Install Bazzite (GNOME)

Requirements

• AMD BC-250
• USB flash drive (8–16 GB)
• Another PC to flash the ISO
• Keyboard, mouse, and monitor
• Ethernet or Wi-Fi

Step 1 — Download Bazzite

Download the GNOME ISO from the official site:

https://bazzite.gg/download

Recommended edition: Bazzite GNOME

Step 2 — Create the USB Installer

Use one of the following tools on your other PC:

• Balena Etcher
• Rufus
• Fedora Media Writer

Flashing Example (Balena Etcher)

1. Open Balena Etcher.
2. Select “Flash from file” and choose the Bazzite ISO.
3. Select your USB drive.
4. Click “Flash” and wait for it to complete.

Step 3 — Boot the BC-250 From USB

1. Insert the USB installer into the BC-250.
2. Power on the BC-250.
3. Tap the Boot Menu key repeatedly:
   • F11 (most common)
   • Sometimes F8 or F12
4. Select the USB drive from the boot menu.

Step 4 — Install Bazzite

1. Select “Install Bazzite” from the menu.
2. Choose your keyboard layout.
3. Connect to Wi-Fi if needed.
4. Open “Installation Destination”.
5. Select your SSD as the install target.
6. Use Automatic Partitioning.
7. Create your user account.
8. Start the installation.

Reboot when the installer finishes.

Step 5 — First Boot

Remove the USB stick and allow Bazzite to boot from the SSD. The first boot may take slightly longer than normal.

Step 6 — Update the System

You must be in Desktop Mode and have a Terminal open to run commands.

Once in Desktop Mode, open Terminal and run:

sudo rpm-ostree update
sudo reboot

Enable Oberon (cyan-skillfish) Governor

The Oberon governor improves CPU/GPU responsiveness and sustained performance under load. All of the following commands must be run in Desktop Mode from a Terminal.

Step 1 — Enable the COPR Repository

sudo dnf copr enable filippor/bazzite

Step 2 — Install the Governor Package

sudo rpm-ostree install cyan-skillfish-governor

Step 3 — Reboot

sudo reboot

Step 4 — Enable the Governor Service

sudo systemctl enable --now cyan-skillfish-governor

After this, the Oberon governor will be active on boot, optimizing the BC-250 for gaming, emulation, and general use.

Your AMD BC-250 now has a clean Bazzite GNOME installation with the Oberon performance governor enabled. You can now install your apps, launch your games, and customize the system as you like.
